Transportation Department to Solve Traffic in 3 Months

Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), gives three months to the Jakarta Transportation Department Head, Benjamin Bukit, to solve traffic problems in the capital such as contra flow, illegal parking, public transport that waiting passenger carelessly, as well as demonstrations that often cause traffic congestion.

"I was assigned to curb the traffic. So Mr. Ahok  does not want to know any more about the public transport waiting passenger carelessly on the road, illegal parking, and the contra flow," said Bukit, Tuesday (1/6).

However, Bukit added, the homework that is given by the governor can not be handled simultaneously. Therefore, his side also set priorities in dealing with issues on the field.

"Starting today, we already work the Mr. Ahok's mandate, but we use the priority scale, because it impossible to deal with it all at once," he added.

One of the priorities is curbing illegal parking. Even in the next three months, his side will encourage illegal parking enforcement in a number of capital areas.

Illegal parking raid would be centered on some points that are rampant of illegal parking as under the flyover Roxy and Tanah Abang area (Central Jakarta), Kalibata City (South Jakarta), Jatinegara (East Jakarta), the Kota Tua until Beos (Jakarta Barat), and Marunda and Kelapa Gading (North Jakarta).

"We are targeting the raid of illegal parking in 3 next month to become our warm up. Hopefully I can finish this mandate," he continued.

In addition, Benjamin also will clean the Jakarta Transportation Department staff person who cooperate with public transport drivers on the field when the curbing process. "Mr. Ahok was told if there is an illegal parking, the Transportation Department have played with others. Well, now we are trying to face the challenge," he uttered.
